03Inventory & cost

BenchStock knows the cost.

Materials inventory and true-cost for makers — what every product actually costs to make, what to charge, and never running out mid-order.

Stock, cost, plan.

§01  —  What it does

What it really costs.

BenchStock is one loop, end to end. Add the materials you buy with their cost per unit. Build a product from those materials, and it shows you the true cost — materials, labor, and overhead — plus a suggested price. Then plan a run and get a shopping list of exactly what’s short.

A spreadsheet shows what you spent. BenchStock shows what it costs you to make one of something:

  • — What does this product actually cost to make?
  • — What should I charge to hit the margin I want?
  • — How many can I make with what I have on hand?
  • — For this order, what do I need to buy — and from whom?

There is no account and no server. Every material, product, and count lives on your device, with a one-tap JSON backup whenever you want one.

One of four Bennett Studio apps

BenchStock is the materials & true-cost piece of Bennett Studio — alongside MarginPrint, MarketDay, and MakerBooks. Every app shares the same local-first storage, backup, and offline foundations, so use BenchStock on its own or with the rest.

The free tier is fully built and tested today — and the paid upgrades (unlimited materials & products, low-stock alerts, inventory value, CSV export) are built. Not for sale yet — it ships when it is good enough to charge for.

In development

BenchStock isn’t for sale yet.

It is built and I use it, but it is not finished enough to charge for. Rather than sell you a rough version and patch it around you, it stays off the shelf until it earns its price.

No date promised — it ships when it is good enough. In the meantime, get in touch if you want to hear when it does.

§04  —  Questions

The honest answers.

How is this different from Craftybase?

Same core job — materials, true cost, inventory — but simpler, mobile-first, offline, and a fraction of the price. BenchStock is built for the maker who wants the answer, not an accounting course.

Where does my data live?

On your device. BenchStock is a client-side app — no account, no server, no central database of your business to leak. Export a JSON backup anytime.

Do I need to be online?

No. It runs entirely on your phone and works fully offline. Install it to your home screen and it behaves like a native app.

Can I import my spreadsheet?

Yes — paste or upload a CSV of your materials (name, unit, cost, on-hand, supplier) and BenchStock maps the columns for you.
